Biggest sales: A historic Back Bay home to two governors for $6.29 million

Located on the illustrious Beacon Street, a condominium with a historic backstory went off the market on March 12 for $6,290,000.
Once the home of two governors, Eben S. Draper and Alvan T. Fuller, 150 Beacon St. was constructed in the early 1900s. The building that stood before it, 152 Beacon St., belonged to Isabella Stewart Gardner. The residence was a wedding present from her father, and the site where she began amassing her art collection. Gardner also held dinner parties, lectures, and salons there. A plaque outside the home explains that when the art collector and philanthropist “moved to the Fenway in 1902, she stipulated that ‘her’ number, 152, never again be used on Beacon Street,” according to a Boston.com story posted in November, when the home hit the market for $6,495,000.
Unit 3 of the present-day building is 3,543 square feet in size, housing three bedrooms, four full bathrooms, and one half bathroom.
An elevator provides direct access to the open-floor-plan residence, beginning with a high-ceiling living room featuring a gas fireplace, wet bar, and large windows. Another gas fireplace appears in the family room, which connects to a private deck looking out to the Charles River. The kitchen is outfitted with a breakfast bar and granite countertops.
The river-view master suite boasts a fireplace, as well as two en-suite baths and dressing rooms. Two additional bedrooms, each with a private bathroom, and an in-unit laundry room round out the home.
The property is pet friendly and allows residents two parking spaces in a garage with direct access to the building.
