It’s life in the coastal community of Nahant, in a home 0.1 of a mile from the beach.
This extensively updated contemporary comes with paid-for solar panels, a refurbished deck (more on that later), a new kitchen, five splits for heat and cooling — and it’s just one block in from the main attraction, Nahant Bay.
This is a house where life takes place on all three levels. From the street, the driveway is the path to the front entry, which is inset in a shallow alcove in the center of the home. Behind this is an 18-foot-long hallway that travels past a stairwell on the left and ends in the center of the ground floor. The flooring is vinyl laminate that mimics wood. Sandy feet? No problem; this flooring can handle it.
This level offers a space ready for aging parents: a 323-square-foot suite with two closets, a kitchenette (it needs updating), and a window that looks out to the street. The 47-square-foot full bath comes with porcelain tile flooring, a Fiberglas shower insert, and a single white vanity topped with quartz. The remainder of this level is given over to a workshop, storage, and the utility room.
At the top of the front entrance stairs, there are corkscrew stairs to the third floor, but the second floor holds the main living levels. To the right sits a 137-square-foot dining area identified by a light fixture with four golden-glass globes that look like butternut squash. The dining area is open to the 257-square-foot kitchen, which has been completely remodeled. It now offers an island with shelving, a marble top, and seating for two, as well as raised-panel cherry cabinetry, a backsplash of square white ceramic tile, granite counters, a pot rack, tall casement windows overlooking the backyard, and stainless steel appliances, including a convection oven and a beverage refrigerator. The dishwasher is black, however, and the white stacked washer and dryer are tucked into a corner alcove with matching cabinetry.
The living room (251 square feet) is one step down from the dining area and boasts great views of the bay, as well as a wood-burning fireplace, wall-to-wall carpeting, and a cathedral ceiling. A slider opens to an expansive deck. It’s like an outdoor theater with the bay as the movie screen. Watch the unending natural show from the hot tub, while you’re grilling, or while gathered beside the fire table underneath the brushed-aluminum portico, which has privacy screens.
The left side of this level is assigned to the primary bedroom, the third bedroom, and the shared full bath. The 208-square-foot primary bedroom features a ceiling fan, a pair of windows, double closets, and laminate flooring that looks like wood. The third bedroom, found in the front of the house, is 162 square feet and has three windows and double closets.
The bath they share, the largest of the three in the home, has been remodeled. The flooring is porcelain tile, the countertop on the single vanity is Italian Carrara marble, and the bath/shower combination is an acrylic insert.
The final space, found up that corkscrew staircase, is a suite that includes an 189-square-foot bedroom space with a single large window. The full bath comes with a double vanity that has a laminate top, as well as white porcelain tile flooring and a shower/tub combination behind a curtain.
The 375-square-foot office/study completes this loft level, where the flooring is a wood laminate.
The house, which sits on 0.14 of an acre, comes with custom blinds and smart tech for the lighting, security, and irrigation systems. The house also comes with a gas ductless five mini-split system for heating and cooling with a high-efficiency gas boiler and a tankless hot water system.
There are herb gardens and grape arbors, as well as more parking to the right of the house in addition to the spots in the driveway.
Flood insurance is not required.
Annie Wachtel of Coldwell Banker Realty in Marblehead has the listing.
