Modera appears to be designed for people who like to walk.
The new pet-friendly development by Mill Creek Residential is about a half mile to Wellington Station on the Orange Line and is set on the banks of the Malden River, where there is a riverwalk with a canoe/kayak launch and a wildlife observation deck. Modera even loans bikes to its residents for free — if you’d rather wheel it than hoof it. There’s bike storage on site if you have your own.
Other amenities include a media room, fitness center, yoga studio, game room, pet spa, a rooftop deck, garage parking, a coffee bar/cyber cafe, a pool, a barbecue area with a fire pit, and a conference room.
The foyer impresses with its two-story-high barn-wood ceiling and marble-print ceramic-tile floor. It leads to a lounge area with a warm-toned ceramic-tile floor that mimics wood planks. This space has couches that invite chatting, as well as televisions atop a gas fireplace for prime football-viewing opportunities. Prefer to get in the game yourself? Past the fireplace is a game room with pool and shuffleboard tables and a wet bar.
The model I toured was the 767-square-foot one-bedroom unit that rents for $2,336. Here, as in most of the apartments, there are 9-foot ceilings and the entry leads into the kitchen, which features white quartz counters; stainless-steel appliances, including a gas stove; a tile backsplash; sleek, contemporary cabinets (white for the uppers and gray for the base); and a prep island.
The living room, which has room for a small dining table, is flooded in natural light from large windows, and the unit’s bedroom suite comes with a balcony. The bedroom and bath (which has a single vanity topped with dark gray quartz) are connected via a walk-in closet. The bath, with a ceramic-tile floor and tub/shower surround, can also be accessed from the kitchen. The in-unit laundry is in a closet off the kitchen. The flooring in the main living areas is a vinyl plank.
Some of the apartments have fireplaces, and den and loft layouts are available. The development’s website is www.moderamedford.com.
