Here, in this Winthrop neighborhood of single-family homes abutting Boston Harbor, it’s all fly and sigh: The planes from Logan International Airport and the ocean, with its gentle breezes, are both visible past the backyards of the houses across the street.

The home featured, an American Foursquare built in 1920, has an enclosed porch with large windows to take in the view and welcome those breezes. Inside, the first room is what was once called the parlor, a space used for socializing in front of the fireplace, which in this home is clad in brick and only decorative. The space is elegant, with a coffered ceiling and oak flooring that runs throughout most of the home.

A set of French doors to the right leads to the dining room, which accommodates a six-person table and has a ceiling fan and a bumpout with a large window flanked by smaller ones.

A second set of French doors leads from the dining room to the family room, a large space that still feels roomy even though it currently holds a sectional positioned in front of a television.

Leading the way from the family room to the kitchen is a hallway lined with stained solid-wood cabinets above a long, low counter topped with laminate the color of patinaed copper. French doors lead to a deck.

The kitchen has been updated and upgraded. It is sun filled, compliments of arched windows. The kitchen has stainless-steel appliances, including a gas stove, and a large island with cabinets and seating. The counters are the same laminate as in the hallway.

Off the kitchen, a full bath with only a shower completes the first floor.

A built-in cabinet with drawers catches the eye on the second floor. The home’s four bedrooms appear equally sized, and each has a decent-sized closet. The master bedroom, found in a rear corner of the house, has two windows and can accommodate a California king bed. The room has a single deep closet. The second full bath, with a porcelain-tile floor, is on this level.

Stairs lead to the unfinished attic on the third floor, which has natural light from the dormer jutting from the center of the roof.

The basement has been partially finished, adding roughly 700 square feet of living space, with laminate flooring and recessed lighting. This space has been used as a second family room and as an office. The laundry hookup is in the unfinished section, and the home has a newer high-efficiency gas furnace.

The house, which sits on a 0.10-acre lot, offers a one-car attached garage. The fenced-in backyard is small and ends in a rocky hill. The owners can access the beach via paths between neighbors’ houses.
