As if the raking cornice and tympanum were not proof enough, the two Doric columns guarding the front entrance confirm this expansive home on a quiet cul-de-sac is built in the Greek Revival style.
It looks as if this Precinct One home has been here for centuries, but the layout of this young house reveals its true age.
Off a foyer with raised-panel wainscot is the living room, which features a fireplace with a wood mantel and a red-brick surround. Flat paint suggests the introduction of Colonial design influences. Three nine-over-nine windows flank the fireplace.
A set of white French pocket doors connects to the dining room, whose highlights are dentil molding, a chandelier mimicking candles, and a single bank of three windows. From here, a doorway leads to the windowed eat-in area of the kitchen, a space with pretty bead-board details and a door to the backyard. A half wall separates this area from the heart of the kitchen, where a long butcher-block counter with its own sink seats at least three, creating a cook’s aisle that runs along the solid-wood cabinets. Stone counters and stainless appliances line the walls. The kitchen offers two closets and a walk-in pantry. The laundry room with sink as well as a separate mudroom are also off the kitchen, providing access to a three-car garage. Located unobtrusively, the garage does not break the flow of the home’s beautiful front facade.

A family room with a fireplace is also off the kitchen and overlooks the rear of the 1.18-acre lot. From here, a door leads to a screened-in porch that connects to a two-level deck and the gently sloping backyard. A half bath off the foyer completes this floor.
On the second floor, the bedroom area of the master suite is a large rectangle that drew design inspiration from the emerald-green marble fireplace surround and hearth. The walls’ color echoes the marble, allowing the white fireplace mantel with dentil molding to stand out. In the master bath, you’ll find green marble on the floor, atop the double vanity, and in the shower. The water closet has a pocket door, and the suite includes a dressing area and two deep walk-in closets.
There are three other bedrooms on this floor, one large enough to be converted into a family room, where the main entertainment is not a black television screen but a green-topped pool table. The two other bedrooms, though not quite so large, are still spacious and have closets of varying sizes. All three bedrooms have en-suite baths. The upstairs landing is used as a home office.
The basement is unfinished. The home’s location feels woodsy and remote, but it’s only a short hop to the Interstate 95 on-ramps and the trails at Wilson Mountain Reservation.
