Home of the week: A Chelsea town house with plenty of water views

Commandants Way is something of a greenbelt for Chelsea, a street that runs parallel to Island End River and sweet Mary O’Malley State Park. Off the street is a cluster of developments, including the 22-unit complex in which this brick town house makes the most of park and river views.
The first floor of the Admirals Hill home is something of a surprise. The main feature is a mirror-backed oak wet bar with seating for three. The area in front serves as a family room. Down the hall is a large cedar closet and the laundry/utility room.
There’s no pub on the second floor, but what is here is a nice suite of main living spaces. The updated kitchen is compact, U-shaped, and features stainless-steel appliances, granite counters, and cabinetry with a French provincial look. A large pass-through connects to the dining area, now occupied by a circular table and six burly chairs. A slider leads to a broad wood deck screened by shrubs, and a separate door offers yet another entrance into the home.

This interior seems to be a series of rectangles until you step into the living room, an asymmetrical pentagon in which a fireplace with a stone surround takes up one wall. Bay windows offer views of the park and water. A half bath completes this floor.
Two near-mirror image bedrooms occupy most of the third level. Each has a cathedral ceiling, ceiling fan, and good-sized closets, but there are key differences. The master features a bank of windows overlooking the park, river, and city, and the other bedroom offers a slider to a balcony. The master’s en-suite bath has a double vanity with a granite counter and stone floor. The other full bath is accessed via the hallway. Both bathrooms have floors with radiant heat.
The fourth floor holds the homeowner’s eyrie, a room now used as an office. It is shaped by sharply angled rooflines and a soffit that zips across the space. Two transom windows pull in natural light, and the closet is large.
This home does not have a basement. The complex offers a swimming pool and Zipcars onsite.
