“This Old House,’’ is coming to Belmont in its 36th season on the air.

The PBS-broadcasted show chooses two historic homes each season to renovate and to “demystify home improvement and provide ideas and information, so that whether you are doing it yourself or hiring out contractors, you’ll know the right way to do things and the right questions to ask.’’

Boston-based PBS station WGBH said that the Belmont home selected is a Victorian that has lost its original historic details throughout the years, and that 16 episodes of the show will be dedicated it its restoration.

According to a “This Old House’’ preview there is quite a list of renovations to be done:

“The 3,200 square foot Shingle Style house will be transformed, making it both architecturally accurate and updated for a modern family. Over 16 episodes the show will feature the family working with ‘This Old House’ to restore the traditional Victorian aesthetics, rebuild the former grand front porch, update the kitchen, create a mudroom, and convert two bedrooms into a master suite.’’

The home belongs to Murat Bicer, a general partner at Cambridge–based venture capital firm Charles River Ventures, and his wife Katherine, according to Boston Business Journal.

“We have been watching the show for a while and are big fans,’’ Katherine told Boston.com. She said that she and Murat had a running joke that they wanted to get their home on “This Old House’’ someday. So after they bought an 1895 Victorian home, it seemed like a perfect time to apply, especially after they happened to work with the show’s painter, who encouraged them to apply.

The restoration began in April and is expected to finish in November.

Murat said one of the biggest changes to the house was their new front porch.

“The house used to have to a wrap-around porch, and then at some point someone took it town,’’ Murat said. “But we actually found a map from the 1960s that shows the porch.’’

Restoring its former historic charm was really important to the Bicers.

“We wanted all parts of the renovation to be plausibly original,’’ Katherine said. “We personally care a lot about the historic details and respecting the home.’’

The second home featured this season, according to a press release, is also in Massachusetts , on the North Shore. In this 10 episode arc, a new home will be constructed with architectural details from the 1700s.
