“Mystic Pizza,” the film about a trio of young Portuguese women played by Julia Roberts, Annabelle Gish, and Lili Taylor, follows the women as they navigate life and love while slinging slices of pizza in the town of Mystic on the Connecticut shoreline. (It also served as Matt Damon’s film debut!)
In real life, the home that served as the heart of the close-knit family is located in the Pawcatuck section of Stonington, just a short drive from Mystic.
Measuring 1,679 square feet, the three-bed, one-and-a-half bath house is a classic cedar shingle home with a prime location on the Pawcatuck River. It is listed for sale for $749,900. Built in 1905, the home welcomes you with a stone wall in front of the beautiful porch, boasting views of the river and marshes. Inside, the foyer, frequently featured in the film, has original woodworking and stained glass windows.

From the foyer, a left turn takes you into the sitting room, home to hardwood floors and multiple windows, some with stained glass features. That extends into a second living area, which streams in natural light from the bevy of windows. There is a half-bathroom off the living space in the rear. The kitchen, which has plenty of room for a dine-in area, features wooden cabinetry and tile floors.
Head up the intricately carved stairs, which have a landing halfway up with additional stained glass. At the top, you’ll find three bedrooms off the hallway. The first features an elegant stained glass window flanked by two larger windows, as well as built-in bookshelves. Its view of the waterfront is ideal for anyone looking to create the perfect work-from-home space. There are two additional bedrooms on this level, as well as a remodeled full bathroom featuring a Jacuzzi tub.
Back downstairs, the home’s rear entrance leads into a mudroom. The 5,527-square-foot lot features a small backyard with a brick patio, perfect for enjoying the summer weather.
“It’s very close to downtown Westerly, which is a vibrant town,” said Ted O’Brien of Compass, who has the listing. “And by boat, it’s very close to Watch Hill.”
The waterfront home also comes with a dock and mooring on the waterfront, which will come in great use for that short boat ride to Rhode Island.
