Maine retreat with guest house and studio headed to auction
The property offers 600 feet of water frontage and a tree house and sits about an hour from Acadia National Park.
When Jerry and Mary Beth Radke bought this serene property in Penobscot, Maine, they were looking for something that was on the waterfront, spacious, and private.
Nestled within nature, this contemporary house built along Maine’s Bagaduce River is going to be auctioned off on Friday, June 7, at 6 p.m.
The property at 178 Johnson Point Road was initially listed at $2,900,000, but now it is being auctioned now without reserve, which means the highest bid, no matter what it is, will prevail.
“It’s a beautiful setting in a beautiful neighborhood,” Mary Beth said, adding that she has been very lucky to have spent time in the riverfront home.

The retreat spans 10.5 acres. The main residence, built in 1980, is 4,600 square feet and consists of four bedrooms, three full baths, and two half baths.
The property, which was updated in 2010, also offers a 380-square-foot guest cottage with a bedroom and a full bathroom, as well as 600 feet of water frontage, a private dock, two woodsheds, a campfire area, a two-story tree house, and a 2,500-square-foot art studio. The studio, which offers ample room to entertain, served as a tapestry for the Radkes’ personal collection.
“We had a wonderful area to display hundreds of pictures that we’ve acquired over the years from different travels,” Mary Beth said.
This haven is an hour from Acadia National Park.

Platinum Luxury Auctions, a Florida-based company that facilitates auctions of luxury real estate, is organizing the auction. Trayor Lesnock, company founder and president, spent about four hours at the property and said he enjoyed the views of the water.
Lesnock described the Maine property as a “very exceptional lifestyle purchase property for somebody who appreciates nature’s beauty and the outdoors.”
