Listed: For $1,649,000, a sweet industrial-chic condo in Dorchester
There’s a lot that makes this industrial chic penthouse in Dorchester’s Lower Mills neighborhood sweet, including its history.
The 2,390-square-foot condo at 1245 Adams St. is located in the former Walter Baker Chocolate Factory, the first chocolate manufacturer in the country.
Though production of the famous Baker’s Chocolate has long since ceased at the site, the exposed brick walls and 18-foot ceilings in the open-concept living and dining area of this unit won’t let you forget the building’s past life.
Unit B609 offers two bedrooms, three full bathrooms, and one half bathroom. It hit the market Feb. 28 for $1,649,000.
The first floor opens into a short foyer, with a mudroom down the hall on the left. Across the way, the den connects to a half bathroom.
Natural light pours into the living room, dining room, and kitchen space, thanks to the several large windows set into the brick walls. Two built-in white bookshelves sit opposite each other in the living room, each with its own rolling ladder.
The recently renovated kitchen features a Wolf cooktop and convection oven, two Bosch dishwashers, a wine refrigerator, and a staggering 13-foot island with a white quartzite countertop and an attached black walnut breakfast bar.
Also on the first floor is the primary suite, with built-ins galore. There’s a built-in desk and window seat, and custom built-in cabinetry with wood detail which allows it to blend seamlessly into the wall. The en-suite bathroom has a marble floor with radiant heat, two floating vanities, and a steam shower with a glass door.
The first floor is also home to a laundry room, with a stackable washer and dryer, along with built-in cabinets and shelves. Wide-plank oak flooring runs throughout this level.
Stairs off the dining area snake up to the mezzanine, where there’s a spacious landing the seller set up as an office. The second bedroom is on this level, as is the study/guest room. Both are carpeted and have full, ensuite bathrooms with radiant heat. There are also two storage rooms on this floor, both with vinyl flooring and built-in shelves.
The unit comes with two deeded parking spaces, and the $1112 a month association fee covers access to the complex’s fitness center, club room, and indoor lap pool and hot tub, as well as heat, water, sewer, snow and trash removal, and landscaping.
Julianne Bridgeman of William Raveis has the listing.
