Boston-bound GE CEO puts his Connecticut mansion on the market
Just last week, CEO of General Electric Jeff Immelt went under contract to buy an $8 million condo on Commonwealth Avenue in Back Bay. Now he has listed his Connecticut home for sale.
Immelt’s personal relocation comes after GE announced it would move its corporate headquarters to Boston, with some employees coming to a temporary location as early as this summer before a larger Seaport office finishes construction in 2018.
Immelt, who currently lives in Connecticut, has listed his New Canaan home for $5.5 million, according to realtor.com.
The 10,458-square-foot mansion on four acres of land is quite the opposite of his new digs in Boston, which Boston Business Journal described as “a 3,565-square-foot triplex home at 36 Commonwealth Ave.” with four bedrooms.
The stone and clapboard country home at 705 West Road in New Canaan has six bedrooms, nine full bathrooms and two half bathrooms. The four acres of land are filled with trees, rolling hills, stone terraces, and a pond.
