It had been a gleam in the eye of developers and Framingham planners for decades, but this former New England Sand & Gravel property is now being transformed into a neighborhood by Brendon Homes of Southborough.

The first step inside the Hayden model condominium at Montage is wow-inducing: think crown molding, wainscoting, 8-inch-high baseboards, tall ceilings, recessed lighting, and a great room where a fireplace with a white mantle is companioned by floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. The basement and bedrooms have carpeting, the bathroom floors are ceramic tile, and the first level features hardwood flooring stained a dark brown.

Home of the week: Montage at Danforth Green in Framingham

The kitchen contains high-end stainless-steel appliances, including a five-burner gas stove nestled in white cabinetry with quartz counters. The backsplash is a light-gray marble. A large rectangular prep island is crowned in Black Panther granite with a leathered finish. The dining space can accommodate seating for eight and affords access to the stone patio through French doors.

Second-floor landings can be wasted space. That’s not the case here. In this iteration, the landing is a flexible area; it can be used as an office or TV spot, easing the transition to the three bedrooms.

The master bedroom, in the back of the house, offers a large walk-in closet with built-in cabinetry and an en-suite bath with a double vanity of Giallo Ornamental granite. The home’s other two bedrooms have good-sized closets and share a bath with a double vanity. A laundry room with cabinetry sits off the landing.

The finished basement in this home adds nearly 1,000 square feet of living space: a family room with recessed lighting, a full bath, playspace, and exercise and utility rooms.

The neighborhood will be a mix of 173 homes: 87 detached (starting at $529,900) as well as 28 duplexes and three triplexes (from $429,900). The square footage of the seven styles ranges from 1,621 for a two-bedroom single-story home to 2,564. According to Brendon Homes, nearly 80 percent of Phase 1 is sold out. The company will release its second phase on Sunday, June 21, and will host an open house that day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The model home is not for sale yet, but the builder can replicate it for the price given above. That would include all of the enhancements seen here, but the cost may vary, depending on the lot.
