The large farm lights, metal accents, and rustic red siding make this home look as if it could be filled with horses and hay. Step inside, and it’s all luxury home.

“People seem to want something instead of your basic kind of Colonial,” said listing agent Paige Haley of Front Door Realty LLC.

Built on what used to be a Groton hay farm, the new barn-style home at 172 Martins Pond Road is decked out with modern features but still respects its roots. The home’s massive front door was crafted from the farm’s original barn, Haley said. The living room features a wall-mounted light made with a beam repurposed from the barn.

In the kitchen, there are stainless-steel appliances and counters and a backsplash made of quartz. The two-story family room has floor-to-ceiling windows that look out over the pasture and a sliding door to the expansive deck.

“The scenery is about to burst with the color of the trees,” Haley said. “It’s going to be gorgeous.”

A custom hickory and glass railing overlooks the home’s first floor from the loft, complementing the hickory flooring below.

The living area totals about 2,700 square feet with four bedrooms and 2.5 baths.

The master suite is on the main levels. The second floor holds three bedrooms and the second full bath.

The home sits on 4.74 acres. A breezeway with custom stonework connects the house and the two-car garage.

The property is on the market for $919,900.

Haley said she will list four other properties parceled off from the original hay farm. Each one is about 5 acres.
