Last week, we showed you what you can buy all over Greater Boston for around $1 million. Lucky for most of us, interspersed between the million-dollar homes are places for half that price.

The type of home you can get for around $500,000 varies quiet a bit — you can purchase a condo in Boston or Somerville but a good-sized single-family home in the suburbs.

19 Kingston St., Somerville
$524,000
Two bedrooms
978 square feet
$535.79 per square foot

This condo, on the top floor of a triple-decker near Davis Square, has a pretty high price per square foot, but is a walker’s paradise. It also has original wood-planked floors, along with an updated kitchen with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, lots of counter space, and plenty of storage cabinets. When the weather’s nice, you can use the home’s private front and back porches.
