Nearly 4.6 million people in Fla., Ga. without power

Here’s the latest information about Hurricane Irma from the National Hurricane Center as of 5 a.m.:

■ The storm was about 60 miles north of Tampa, and moving north at about 18 miles per hour.

■ Maximum sustained winds were 75 m.p.h., according to the hurricane center. The minimum sustained wind speed for a storm to be considered a hurricane is 74 m.p.h.

■ Nearly 4.6 million customers in Florida and Georgia were without power as of Monday morning.

■ A storm surge warning remains in effect for much of coastal Florida, including the Florida Keys and the Tampa Bay area.

■ Irma will continue to dump rain across the southeast and Caribbean through Wednesday.
