Canadian Hero Brought to Tears by Parliamentary Tribute

Less than a day after killing an armed man who stormed Canada’s parliament Thursday, the body’s normally ceremonial sergeant-at-arms was welcomed with a standing ovation by the full House of Commons Thursday.

Kevin Vickers appears on the edge of tears throughout 152 seconds of booming applause, but still manages to keep his sense of decorum in check.

The dedication came during Vickers normal morning routine which opens the parliament for the day’s business each morning.

“Today there is a little boy who lost his dad in a sudden and tragic way,’’ Liberal Party leader Justin Trudeau said. “Kevin, without your service a terrible situation would have become much worse.’’
