Adult Film Actress Running for Mayor of Toronto
The mayoral election in Toronto, set for this October, is not going to be your typical political campaign because that’s what happens when your incumbent is Rob Ford.
Ford, the city’s embattled mayor, has spent much of the last year answering allegations that he has smoked crack on multiple occasions. In April, Ford entered rehab after his lawyer said the politician acknowledged his “substance abuse problem.’’
Throughout the scandal, he has not directly addressed whether those problems have affected his ability to lead, only saying that he “won’t back down from the issues’’ that matter to his constituents, even when critics “start throwing mud.’’
But there are more than a few people who think they’d do a better job as mayor than Ford. One of these people is adult film star Nikki Benz, who announced this week she is running for the office. In an interview with the Toronto Sun’s Mike Strobel, Benz pitched herself as a healthy alternative.

She shared her opinions on city policy, and suggested changes to how Ford’s administration has handled public transportation.
Benz wants to see construction expedited on Toronto’s proposed “relief line’’ in order to help with congestion on the city’s other transit lines. She also thinks the adult film industry would work wonders for Toronto’s economy, helping to bring “jobs, business, and taxes.’’
Of course, she still has a lot of work to do before October. The only poll the Sun can say she’s currently winning is their unofficial question of which mayoral candidate is sexiest. That’s a heavy crown, to be sure, but it’s not the mayor’s office. Her slogan – “Trade in your Ford for a Benz’’ – doesn’t hurt, but it seems like she could do just as well with “Anything’s better than Rob Ford.’’
