Australian Prime Minister hopeful about discovering what happened to Flight 370
Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott is hopeful that search efforts may be closer to discovering what happened to missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.
Yahoo! News reports Abbott said, “It’s still too early to be definite, but obviously we have now had a number of very credible leads and there is increasing hope — no more than hope, no more than hope — that we might be on the road to discovering what did happen to this ill-fated aircraft.’’
A Chinese defense agency said earlier on Saturday that its satellite spotted an object in the southern part of the Indian Ocean that may be linked to the missing Malaysian jetliner, but after searching for much of the day, nothing new was discovered. The search has since resumed near Perth, Australia early Sunday.
According to CNN, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority said searchers will take the satellite information into consideration as they plan their search. “Eight planes – more than on any other day — will search the Indian Ocean,’’ said Andrea Hayward-Maher, spokeswoman for the maritime safety authority.
