Report: The price of lobster has reached a 10-year high for August

Just in time for Labor Day Weekend.

A high demand for lobster this summer has pushed the crustacean’s price tag to be the highest its been during the month of August in 10 years, according to SeafoodNews.com.

The price for a 1¼-pound hardshell lobster reached $8.50 this week, according to the report. New shell lobster reached the highest August price since 2005 at $6.

As retailers are stocking up on the New England delicacy for Labor Day Weekend, SeaFoodNews.com said Urner Barry reported the prices for hardshell lobsters leaped up 25 cents—for new shell, the jump was 50 cents.
