When your favorite Massachusetts-grown fruits and veggies are in season

Go blueberry picking. Places in Massachusetts where you can pick your own include Turkey Hill Farm in Haverhill, Boston Hill Farm in North Andover, Parlee Farms in Tyngsboro, and Ward’s Berry Farm in Sharon. Robert F. Bukaty / AP

Warm weather means it’s the start of more than just grilling season.

Over 200 farmers’ markets are popping up throughout the state, bringing with them local fruits and vegetables to get you through the summer months.

Despite the cooler spring, growers are predicting things to be on schedule, according to the Department of Agriculture.

“Growers are harvesting from the fields lots of lettuce, spinach, peas, radishes, arugula, rhubarb, herbs, asparagus, and shortly strawberries,” a department spokeswoman, Julia Grimaldi, said.

Here’s the Department of Agriculture’s list of when your favorite Massachusetts-grown produce is in season so you can buy or pick your favorite goodies at their peak freshness.
