The “beloved mascot’’ of the Boston Police Department’s SWAT team is on the mend, according to Boston police.

The department’s furry friend, known as “SWAT Cat,’’ recently returned to the department after going missing for several weeks. But over the weekend, concerned officers brought the feline to the Franklin Veterinary Clinic when they noticed she wasn’t acting like herself and didn’t have her usual appetite, police said.

Thanks to Dr. Daniel Castillo, police said, the team mascot is on the mend and should be released Tuesday, pending the results of some tests. The four-legged member of the force was treated for dehydration and given a complete examination.

The department said Castillo volunteered his time and services after a friend on the SWAT team mentioned their concerns.

“Good deeds are nothing new to Dr. Castillo, who in the aftermath of the events of 9/11, spent several days treating search and rescue dogs in New York City free of charge,’’ the department said in a statement. “Our sincere thanks to Dr. Castillo and his entire staff at the Franklin Veterinary Clinic for stepping up to take care of our SWAT Team mascot.’’
