Trump campaign headquarters in Littleton vandalized
Police are investigating acts of graffiti and vandalism at the state headquarters for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
According to Littleton police, the vandalism was reported Saturday morning. When officers arrived at the building they found “vulgar and sexual references,’’ “references to Trump as a nazi,’’ and the word “pig,’’ sprayed across three windows.
Police chief Matthew King condemned the vandalism and promised a “thorough investigation,’’ saying that the acts were not representative of the town of Littleton and its community.
“People have a right to express their views and disagreements, but the line is drawn at criminal behavior and vandalism,’’ he said in a statement. “Littleton is an accepting place full of people who coexist regardless of each other’s political ideology. I speak for the entire community in my strong condemnation of these acts, and I promise a full and thorough investigation.’’
The Conant Building, where the vandalism took place, is a historic building in the town, according to police.
The chairman of the town’s board of selectmen, Jim Karr, echoed the police chief in a statement denouncing the acts.
“The Conant Building is a historic building, and it is absolutely disgraceful that anyone would vandalize it simply because of their political beliefs or their disagreement with a political figure or party,’’ he said.
Police are asking anyone with information about the vandalism to contact the department.
The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
