The man arrested during Friday’s Winter Classic at Gillette Stadium for allegedly having a trunk full of weapons, including a meat cleaver and multiple swords, pleaded not guilty Monday in Wrentham District Court.

Matthew Bromson, 48, of North Granby, Connecticut, was held on a total of $17,500 on charges of disorderly conduct, possession of an electric stun gun, trespassing, and three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon. He also was wanted as a fugitive of justice on a prior disorderly conduct charge in Connecticut.

As the prosecutor read the charges Monday, Bromson shook his head and laughed.

Bromson was arrested before the NHL’s Winter Classic between the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens on New Year’s Day. Police received a call about a “suspicious male party’’ at the stadium’s employee parking lot just after 11 a.m. and found the weapons while searching the suspect’s car. Bromson is not a stadium employee.
