Tufts Health Plan accidentally sends out robocall to thousands of seniors before 5 a.m.

Tufts Health Plan accidentally sent out a robocall in the pre-dawn hours of Tuesday morning reminding patients to get their flu shots, The Patriot-Ledger reports.

The call, targeted to patients over 65 enrolled in the Tufts Medicare Preferred HMO options, was supposed to go out from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. — instead it went out between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. Roughly 10,000 seniors got the automated call from the Massachusetts-headquartered company, according to the Patriot-Ledger.

“It’s unfortunate that it happened and I would just want to issue a complete apology to all those who received a phone call,’’ Tufts spokeswoman Sonya Hagopian told the Patriot-Ledger. “I’m sure it was jarring to be woken up like that and it certainly was not our intent.’’
