Aaron Hernandez double murder trial postponed
Aaron Hernandez’s trial for the murder of two Dorchester residents will be postponed from its previously scheduled start date of January 19, Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said.
That date will instead be used as a status hearing.
Prosecutors say Hernandez killed Daniel Jorge Correia de Abreu and Safiro Teixeira Furtado, both immigrants from Cape Verde, in a drive-by shooting in the South End in July 2012. He was indicted on those charges in May 2014.
Hernandez also faces a witness intimidation charge for allegedly shooting a man in Florida who had made a remark about the double murder, prosecutors say.
Hernandez was convicted in April of this year and sentenced to life in prison for the murder of 26-year-old Odin Lloyd in North Attleboro.
