Police seeking person wanted in string of gingerbread house invasions

Police are asking Bourne residents to exercise caution if they see this suspect wanted in a string of gingerbread home invasions.

Police described him as a “specialist in covert surveillance’’ who often hides in high places. He’s “known to spread Christmas Cheer’’ and should not be approached, police said.

In the mugshot posted on the Bourne Police Department’s Facebook page (which has more than 2,500 likes and 1,000 shares), the suspect was wearing a bright red pointed hat and suit.

The culprit, believed to be responsible for these invasions and spying, is The Elf on the Shelf, a mischievous toy elf from a children’s book that watches children to see if they’re behaving in the weeks leading up to Christmas and reports back to the North Pole with his findings.

In a word of caution to those tempted to make contact with the elf, they added, “Do not approach and especially DO NOT touch as this is known to cause loss of magical abilities to report back to his jolly kingpin!’’
