With multiple deadly attacks reported in Paris on Friday night, Facebook has activated a “Safety Check’’ for France’s capital city.

What’s that mean?

A Facebook “Safety Check’’ allows users outside the affected area to find and connect with friends who are possibly in danger — and tag them as safe. It also allows users in the area to tag themselves as safe — notifying their friends.

Read Facebook’s FAQs about the service, and view the current “Safety Check’’ for Paris here.
