Liquidation sales for City Sports got off to a quiet start on Friday morning, according to report by The Boston Globe.

The sportswear company filed for bankruptcy in October, and earlier this week it was sold to a buyer who plans to close all locations and liquidate its inventory.

But only two people were lined up outside a store location in Dedham early Friday, according to the Globe.

A husband and wife team, both longtime fans of City Sports, told the Globe they were surprised there weren’t more people present for the beginning of the sale.

City Sports spokesperson Eve Bould told the Globe that, by noon, each of the Boston-area stores had exceeded average sales for a full day.

The discounts on Friday ranged from 10 to 30 percent, but they will grow until the stores close at the end of the year.
