Police: Hopkinton trick-or-treaters got toilet bowl cleaner

Hopkinton Police Department

Hopkinton police received two separate reports Sunday morning from parents who had found house cleaning products in their children’s candy bags.

Two trick-or-treaters, ages six and 13, were in the downtown area near Main Street on Halloween night when they received toilet bowl cleaner in their candy bags, police said. According to police, the disks were in their original packages and sealed. They were not consumed by either child.

“We are trying to get this incident out there to make parents aware, but to also urge parents to check the candy that their children bring back. … We are glad that no one was hurt,’’ Det. Gregg Deboer told Boston.com.
