You can now charge your phone for free on City Hall Plaza

City of Boston

WrightGrid, a provider of solar-powered charging stations for mobile devices, has installed two charging stations on City Hall Plaza, according to the mayor’s office.

The charging stations are part of a partnership with Babson College, and will start as a 60-day pilot program (similar to one in Somerville).

The stations are part of an initiative by Mayor Marty Walsh announced earlier this fall, calling for partners to work with the city to enhance City Hall Plaza to be a civic space and an attractive destination for residents and tourists.

The initiative to make the plaza a more appealing place brought astroturf and lounge chairs to the plaza this summer.
