Police rescue lost hiker on Tekoa Mountain
A hiker reported herself lost Tuesday afternoon on Tekoa Mountain in Russell, according to state police.
A 23-year-old woman called 911 for assistance at approximately 3:45 p.m. when she became disoriented while hiking the mountain. A state police helicopter and K-9 unit responded to the area, and the helicopter located her at about 5 p.m., police said.
The helicopter then directed emergency personnel and a search team, consisting of state troopers and members of the Russell Fire Department, to her location to assist her down the mountain. The hiker was uninjured.
