State troopers stop woman from jumping off Springfield overpass
A Massachusetts state trooper was on patrol Wednesday afternoon when he saw a woman climbing a fence on the Liberty Street overpass above Route 291 in Springfield, according to state police.
Troopers from the local barracks responded to help and shut down the highway, police said. Two troopers then prevented the woman from jumping while another cut a hole in the fence to pull her to safety.
Police said the woman was transported for evaluation to Mercy Medical Center in Springfield.
