Gas leak and small fire at rail yard cause commuter rail delays
A National Grid gas leak and fire at a rail yard caused delays on the MBTA’s commuter rail late Wednesday afternoon.
Boston Fire spokesman Steve MacDonald said the department received the call about the leak and fire in the vicinity of the West 4th Street Bridge around 4:20 p.m.
The leak and fire shut down all but one track near the scene, according to Mac Daniel, a spokesman for Keolis.
Regular service from South Station was resumed around 7:10 p.m., but the transit agency warned commuters to expect residual delays.
