Walmart says it will take assault rifles off its shelves
Walmart, known for being the one-stop shop for nearly everything—including assault rifles and semi-automatic shotguns—has decided to discontinue the sale of high-capacity weapons, Forbesreported.
The move has no political basis, a Walmart spokesman told Forbes. Instead, the change comes from a drop in customer demand.
“We previously carried modern sporting rifles in less than a third of our stores,’’ spokesman Kory Lundberg said. “Our merchandising decisions are driven largely by customer demand. In our everyday course of doing business, we are continually reviewing and adjusting our product assortment to meet our customers’ needs.’’
The retailer said it will sell off its remaining inventory of guns with magazine capacities of seven rounds or more, according to the report.
