Boston is one of the worst cities for pet owners

Andy Robinson / Boston.com

Thinking of getting a pet? You may want to think again if you live in Boston.

WalletHub, a personal finance site, took a look at which cities were best, and worst, for pet lovers, and Boston was ranked as the eighth worst city overall.

Cincinnati ranked No. 1 overall, with St. Louis and Colorado Springs coming in second and third, respectively.

The study compared the country’s 100 largest cities across 16 metrics, taking into account things like the cost per vet visit (Boston ranked third worst) and number of vets per capita (Boston came in at fourth worst).

We may not have come in first, but at least we still ranked above New York. The Big Apple was ranked No. 99 overall — second to worst, only outranking Newark.
