Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump takes his case to ‘The People’s Court’ on Saturday Night Live
"Mr. Trump, you do realize this is a TV court?"
As the country’s unofficial Donald Trump impressionist, Alec Baldwin perhaps surprisingly had just one sketch portraying the president in his anticipated 17th hosting appearance on Saturday Night Live last night.
In the skit, Baldwin played Trump in his continued fight for judicial validation of his recent immigration order.
“SEE YOU IN COURT,” the real-life president tweeted Thursday, after a federal appeals court upheld a previous ruling blocking the full implementation of the order.
Apparently, SNL interpreted that to mean that Trump wanted to take his battle against the judiciary system to more familiar turf:
Reality TV — specifically, The People’s Court.
“First of all, Mr. Trump, you do realize this is a TV court?” the judge began.
“That’s okay, I’m a TV president,” Baldwin replied.
Yet even after Baldwin broke out his own mini-gavel and called on Russian President Vladimir Putin as a character witness, the reality TV show judge remained unconvinced by his argument.
“It seemed rushed, even to me, and I decide three court cases in an hour,” she said.
