The MBTA has announced service changes for Thanksgiving that will be in effect from Wednesday through Friday. Here’s what you need to know about getting around Boston and beyond.
On Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, subways, buses, the commuter rail, and The RIDE will operate as usual, running regular weekday service.
Ferry routes will also run on regular weekday schedule, except for the Hingham Hull line, which has cancelled its 6:40 p.m. and 7:40 p.m. ferries from Hingham to Boston (Rowes Wharf) and replaced them with two earlier ferries, which will leave at 1:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. from Hingham and arrive in Boston at 1:55 and 3:55 p.m., respectively. Likewise, the 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. ferries from Boston to Hingham have been cancelled and replaced with ferries departing at 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. from Boston to Hingham, and arriving at 1:05 p.m. and 3:05 p.m., respectively.
There will be increased Silver Line service to and from Logan Airport.
On Thanksgiving, subways, buses, and The RIDE will run on a Sunday schedule.
The commuter rail will operate on a weekend schedule, and riders will be able to take advantage of $10 Holiday Passes. The MBTA offers $10 Holiday Weekend Passes for holidays that fall on a Monday or a Friday, plus Thanksgiving. The Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend Pass allows for unlimited travel between Thursday and Sunday for $10. These passes are available for purchase from Monday, Nov. 25 through the end of the holiday weekend on Sunday, Dec. 1, and can be purchased via the mTicket app, aboard trains, and at station ticket windows. Standard $10 weekend passes will also still be available as usual.
There will be no ferry service on Thursday.
The commuter rail will continue to operate on a weekend schedule on Friday, though subways, buses, ferries, and The RIDE will return to regular weekday service.
Like Wednesday, Silver Line service to and from Logan Airport will run more frequently.
