The Lakeville Fire Department said it responded to six separate motor vehicle crashes in under 40 minutes on Sunday.
The department said in a Facebook post that the crashes were possibly weather-related, as they occurred when “steady rain transitioned to snow, creating a slushy covering on local roads.”
The first crash occurred at 11:47 a.m. Sunday morning when a pickup truck went off the road in the area of 72 Precinct St., officials said. While on scene, firefighters received calls for multiple other crashes on the north and southbound sides of Route 140.
“Despite having 4 firefighters on duty, a recall was required to cover the additional emergencies,” the department said in the post, adding that ambulances and fire engines “leapfrogged” from scene to scene.
Seven people were evaluated and treated as a result of the crashes, and one was brought to a hospital, officials said.
“Lakeville Fire Department reminds our community to be extra careful during the current tricky driving conditions,” the post read.
