The Boston Globe

Take a look at these old newspaper advertisements

From coffee to cure-alls to lard, these ‘Boston Globe’ advertisers will convince you to buy.

“Are you a lard user?’’ asks one ad.

“It’s purely vegetable and perfectly harmless,’’ another assures.

These ads that ran in The Boston Globe between 1878 and 1930 pull out all the stops in the vending of their wares. The graphics may not be what they are today, but the message is the same: Buy this — it’s the best.
