You can still buy the new iPhone 6s at Verizon stores in New Hampshire

However, you’ll need a reservation to purchase them at an Apple store in any sales-tax-free state.

As Boston.com reported Tuesday, if you haven’t already made a pre-order reservation for the the iPhone 6s, you will not be able to purchase the new models in Apples stores in New Hampshire when they go on sale Friday morning.

However, Verizon Wirless spokesman Michael Murphy reached out to note that doesn’t mean the phone will be completely unavailable in states without a sales tax for residents without a reservation.

“Beginning Friday we will offer the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus for purchase online and in our New Hampshire stores – no reservations needed – it’s first-come, first-served,’’ Murphy said, adding that most stores will open at 8 a.m. “Aside from earlier hours, we are operating business-as-usual in our New Hampshire stores on Friday.’’

A footnote of an Apple press release Monday revealed that the new phones would be available by reservation only in Apples stores in New Hampshire, Delaware, Oregon, and Alaska (as well as China, Hong Kong, and Japan). The rule is an attempt to crack down on so-called “sharks,’’ who reselled the lower-priced phones for a profit in other areas.

Apple did not say how long the reservation-only rule would be imposed and will not be taking anymore reservations for the new models until Saturday at 8 a.m.

New Hampshire has three Apple stores: one in Manchester, one in Nashua, and one in Salem.
