MBTA services are up and running after yesterday’s storm, but Jamey Tesler, secretary of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, urged riders to check schedules before riding.

In a blizzard cleanup update Sunday morning with Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito and Dawn Brantley, the director of the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, Tesler said crews are still working to clear critical areas.

“Customers who are traveling the T should dress warmly and check schedules,” Tesler said. “MBTA’s crews are deployed throughout the MBTA performing snow clearing, de-icing work at critical track switch locations and in rail yards.”

Busses are operating on their normal Sunday schedules, according to Tesler, but some may be running snow routes to avoid steep hills, tight corners and narrow streets. Information about snow routes can be found online.

“The work of clearing snow from platforms, bus stops, parking lots, and paths of travel will continue all day and night into Monday,” Tesler said.

A few service lines have been interrupted by snow, but busses are filling in. On the Blue Line, service between Orient Heights and Government Center has been replaced by busses. The D branch of the Green Line is being replaced by shuttle busses, according to the MBTA website.

Tesler encouraged riders to check MBTA.com, T-Alerts and Twitter for service changes before riding.

“MBTA asks for customers’ patience while crews perform the work necessary to have the transit system ready and continuing to make it ready for tomorrow morning,” Tesler said.
