A beloved seafood shack that for decades fed visitors to Nauset Beach on Cape Cod was demolished Tuesday.
Orleans officials voted last week to end the town’s lease with Liam’s, which allowed demolition of the iconic snack bar that was severely damaged by the first nor’easter that hit the region in March, The Cape Cod Times reports.
According to The Boston Globe, the storm’s ravaging high tides ate at the sands under the foundation of the restaurant, famous for its onion rings.
“It’s been an honor, a pleasure, and a virtue to serve the town of Orleans all these decades,” John Ohman, who bought the business in 1990, told the Times.

Town officials are reportedly considering food trucks at the beach in order to fill the vacuum left with Liam’s demolition, according to the Times.
