Rachel Klein’s RFK Kitchen opens in Needham

RFK Kitchen is officially opening its doors in Needham center Friday.

The highly anticipated restaurant, led by award-winning chef Rachel Klein, has been in the works for over a year. This will be the first ownership endeavor for Klein, who formerly served as the executive chef at Liquid Art House.

RFK Kitchen describes itself as “catering to the sophisticated suburban crowd,” and will feature a menu that blends modern American cooking with global influences and New England ingredients, according to its website.

The menu is expected to grow, but during opening weekend Klein told Boston magazine that her goal is to introduce her “comfort chic” cuisine, like her rotisserie chicken, which will also be available as a carry-out option.

One chef in particular is very excited about the opening: Rodney Murillo, culinary director at Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse. He previously told Boston.com it was the fall restaurant opening he was most looking forward to.

“I’m a huge fan of her food, and I think she’s one of the most amazing chefs in the city of Boston,” he said. “She’s going to open a very modern but casual place in Needham.”
