Magnolia Bakery is considering bringing its famous cupcakes to Boston

The bakery, which earned its claim-to-fame in the ’90s for being the spot where Carrie tells Miranda about her crush while scarfing down one of Magnolia’s signature cupcakes, is looking to expand to the East Coast—and Boston is in the running, according to Boston Business Journal.

Boston, Greenwich, Connecticut, and Washington, D.C., are being considered for the bakery’s newest location, but there are no leases are in the works yet, according to chief baking officer and vice president Bobbie Lloyd. New bakeries are expected to open by the end of 2017 or early 2018, Boston Business Journal reports.
This wouldn’t be the first expansion for Magnolia’s. The bakery has locations in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Honolulu, Hawaii, as well as franchises around the world. But the bakery’s only current Northeast storefront outside of New York City is their newest store at the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets in Central Valley, New York.
