Sweetgreen Back Bay reopens following temporary closure for health code violations

Paleo dieters can’t deny that the bulk of what they can eat is lean protein and veggies. Good thing the bulk of what Sweetgreen serves is veggie-centered. Its menu is always changing and dishes are made on the spot. Its ingredients highlight sustainable, local, organic products that are hormone-free and all natural. The make-your-own salad option is perfect because diners can leave off the cheese and legumes and create a delicious, Paleo-friendly dish. Sweetgreen’s Boylston Street location, which was temporary closed by city health inspectors this week, reopened Friday afternoon. The popular salad chain at 659 Boylston Street was closed Tuesday after inspectors found 20 code violations, including the incorrect temperature of certain foods and employees reusing gloves that are meant to be “task specific.”Sweetgreen President and COO Karen Kelley said in a statement the business worked with the city’s health department to correct the violations and would be designating a staff “food safety expert” at each of its locations across the country immediately.

“We want to assure our customers that this was an isolated incident and that we have taken steps to make sure it does not happen again,” she said.
