The following responses have been lightly edited for clarity.

What is the biggest issue facing District 6 residents at the moment and what do you believe the City Council should do to address this?

Berry: Housing is the biggest issue facing every district in Boston. The Boston Zoning Commission and Boston Planning & Development Agency boards are appointed positions. The Mayor and City Council should only appoint and confirm those who will allow Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) by right throughout the city, increase build by right zoning as well as removing parking minimums, and remove officials who won’t. We have to increase housing, and we must take bold action today.

What makes you stand out from the other candidate in this race?

Berry: I am a regular working class person with a unique lived experience. I have no political ties, and I feel those of us in this category are severely underrepresented.

Do you think the public has lost faith in the City Council in recent years? If so, what do you think should be done to improve the council’s public image?

Berry: Yes. It is time to follow through on the issues that matter most to us. We are seeing some of the most hateful legislation imaginable passing with ease throughout this country, and it’s finally time we do that for the good stuff too. That means no more incrementalism, we need bold moves now.
