Although the final votes are still being counted, the 2024 Massachusetts election results are mostly settled.
More than 60 percent of Massachusetts residents voted for Vice President Kamala Harris, who was defeated nationally by former President Donald Trump. Though Harris easily won the Bay State’s 11 electoral votes, there were still dozens of Massachusetts towns where a majority of residents voted for Trump.
All nine Democratic candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives won their respective races, and Sen. Elizabeth Warren defeated challenger John Deaton. As of Wednesday morning, it remained to be seen how those victories will impact the balance of power in the House.
Residents also voted to approve two of the five statewide ballot questions, and Question 3, which would allow ride-share drivers to unionize, hadn’t been called as of Wednesday morning but the “yes” side was leading. Questions concerning the powers of the state auditor (Question 1) and removing the MCAS graduation requirement (Question 2) both passed, while questions regarding legalizing certain psychedelics (Question 4) and eliminating the tipped minimum wage (Question 5) were voted down.
As votes continue to roll in Wednesday morning, Boston.com will publish live updates of the 2024 election results, including the 2024 presidential race, New Hampshire election results, and which political party will have majority control of the Senate and House.
