Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump met on stage for a debate on Tuesday night.
The first — and potentially only — face off between the two candidates was marked by fierce exchanges over abortion, the economy, and immigration.
The debate, hosted by ABC, took place in Philadelphia with no audience.
Moderators fact checked the candidates live during Tuesday’s debate. One such moment came after Trump falsely claimed some states allowed abortion after birth. At the end of his answer, moderator Linsey Davis stated Trump’s claim was not true and moved on.
Pressed on his shifting position on abortion, former Pres. Trump falsely claims some states allow for the killing of an infant after birth.

Later in the debate, Harris contrasted her record as a prosecutor with Trump’s recent felony convictions. After Trump said an influx of undocumented immigrants are bringing increased crime to the U.S., Harris said his stance on illegal immigration was “rich” coming from a convicted felon.
The economy was a hot button issue early in the debate that saw both candidates come out swinging. Trump labeled Harris a “Marxist,” while Harris retorted by directly telling the audience: “Donald Trump has no plan for you.”
