Kim Janey will be sworn in as Boston’s acting mayor Wednesday morning, becoming the first woman and first person of color to hold the office of the city’s chief executive in history.

The District 7 city councilor assumed responsibilities as the city’s 55th mayor Monday night following the resignation of Marty Walsh, now the nation’s secretary of labor.

The ceremonial swearing in will be streamed online beginning at 11:45 a.m. on Boston.gov. A livestream will also be posted on Boston.com.

Janey, 55, will be joined by other trailblazing Black women in Massachusetts history.

Chief Justice Kimberly Budd, the first Black woman to lead the state Supreme Judicial Court, will administer the oath of office to Janey. Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, the first woman of color to serve on City Council and the first Black congresswoman for the Bay State, is presiding over the ceremony, officials said.
