Vice President-elect Kamala Harris reacted Saturday after multiple news outlets, including The Associated Press, The New York Times, and CNN, declared Joe Biden’s victory over incumbent Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election.
“This election is about so much more than @JoeBiden or me,” Harris tweeted just before noon Saturday. “It’s about the soul of America and our willingness to fight for it. We have a lot of work ahead of us. Let’s get started.”

She then shared another video in which she can be seen talking on the phone while laughing and saying: “We did it, we did it, Joe. You’re going to be the next President of the United States.”

Harris, the 56-year-old California senator, is the first woman to be elected to the highest levels of American government.
